A Tesla Cybertruck owner has just crossed 50,000 miles, and his verdict is surprisingly simple:
It’s the most dependable truck he has ever owned.
What makes his story even more interesting is his job. He works in environmental compliance, checking gas stations and industrial sites for leaks and pollution risks. So every day, he drives from site to site — more than 100 miles daily — while hauling over 1,000 pounds of equipment.
And despite this intense routine, the Cybertruck has impressed him more than any of his past vehicles.
He Switched From Ford, Chevy, and GMC… and Doesn’t Want to Look Back
Before buying the Cybertruck, he owned trucks from Ford, Chevy, and GMC.
The pattern was always the same:
-
around 50,000 miles
-
expensive transmission repairs
-
increasing daily driving costs
He says the Cybertruck has been the total opposite — smooth, quiet, and reliable.
“By 50,000 miles, all my previous trucks needed major repairs. Transmissions were always the biggest headache,” he wrote on the Cybertruck Owners Club forum.
“With the Cybertruck, everything is still running perfectly.”
Unexpected Perks of Going Electric
Beyond reliability, he has discovered benefits he never expected.
When he camps in remote places, he brings two Jackery solar generators and over 1,600 watts of solar panels. Instead of needing fuel, he powers both his camp setup and the Cybertruck using only sunlight.
He explains:
“With my Jackery units and solar panels, camping feels completely carefree. No noise, no fuel, no extra cost — just clean energy going straight into the truck.
For someone who spends time outdoors for work and adventure, this has transformed the way he travels.
The Only Downside? The Drama Around the Cybertruck
He admits that owning a Cybertruck hasn’t always been peaceful. Its unique design and Tesla’s political spotlight attracted unwanted reactions from strangers.
“It’s been fun, but also very politically charged,” he wrote.
“Some people were extremely negative — like being surrounded by angry monkeys who only know how to hate.”
But he adds that things are finally calming down, and he’s enjoying the ride again.
A Truck Built for Long Days and Scenic Drives
Now that the controversy has faded, he says he’s back to appreciating every drive — whether it’s along the coast, through California’s Central Valley, or winding into the Sierra Nevada.
With Full Self-Driving helping during long routes, he says the truck makes daily work trips calmer and more enjoyable.
Along with his post, he shared photos of his Cybertruck parked at gas stations, fully loaded with environmental testing equipment — a funny contrast for someone whose job revolves around the fossil-fuel world.
